2019

Designing a child-centered parental control app.

During my internship at Avast, I worked on redesigning the parental control app, focusing on the child-facing experience. As a 16 years old teenager in 2019, I was in the same age range as the app's target audience (10–18 years old), I brought a unique perspective to the project, allowing me to better understand their needs and behaviors.

The app’s initial focus on data collection and screen time was reimagined to prioritize children’s needs while maintaining parents’ oversight.

My responsibilities

  1. Designed and implemented features for a parental control app with a focus on creating a child-friendly user experience while addressing parents' oversight needs.

  2. Conducted user interviews and usability testing with children aged 10–15.

  3. Developed interactive prototypes using InVision to explore design concepts for features such as location tracking with privacy safeguards and gamified screen-time management.

  4. Utilized the Avast Design System to ensure consistency, scalability, and alignment with brand guidelines across all design solutions.

  5. Worked collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including product managers and engineers, to align design solutions with technical feasibility and user insights.
